SHICK (Senior Health Insurance Counseling for Kansas)
Kansas's free, unbiased Medicare counseling program, run by the Kansas Department for Aging and Disability Services. Trained counselors help with plan choices, bills and Extra Help. Call 800-860-5260.

Jayhawk Area Agency on Aging
2910 SW Topeka Blvd. The Area Agency on Aging for Shawnee, Jefferson and Douglas counties, and the local SHICK coordinator. The starting point for meals, in-home help, caregiver support and long-term care questions. Call 785-235-1367.

Retirement and disability benefits, Part A and Part B enrollment, and Extra Help applications. Apply online at ssa.gov or call 1-800-772-1213 to find the Topeka office and book an appointment.

Midland Care Connection lists congregate meal sites across the county, including East Topeka Senior Center on SE Norwood, Papan's Landing Senior Center on NW Paramore, the LULAC center on NE Seward, and sites in Auburn, Rossville and Silver Lake.

Topeka Metro and Lift Service
Medicare recipients can apply for a Reduced Fare ID with a copy of their Medicare card and a photo ID. Lift Service offers door-to-door rides for riders approved through Topeka Metro's application. Call 785-783-7000.

Stormont Vail Hospital
1500 SW 10th Ave. The main hospital of Stormont Vail Health, which also runs clinics across Topeka. Check that it is in network before you pick an Advantage plan. Call 785-354-6000.

The University of Kansas Health System St. Francis Campus
1700 SW 7th St. Topeka's other major hospital. It can sit in a different set of plan networks than Stormont Vail. Call 785-295-7800.

Colmery-O'Neil VA Medical Center
2200 SW Gage Blvd. VA care for eligible veterans. The VA does not bill Medicare, so ask how VA care fits with any Medicare plan.
Check your hospital before you switch plans
Networks change every year. If you use Medicare Advantage in Topeka, confirm Stormont Vail or St. Francis is still in network for the new plan year.
